He looks forward to applying his astrophysics knowledge and leadership experience to inspire future space enthusiasts and professionals. In his free time, Hasaan enjoys playing football, a sport that teaches teamwork and perseverance. With his diverse background, academic excellence, and dedication, Hasaan is a valuable asset to SEDS Canada in advancing space exploration.
CSC 2025 Team

Audrey Medaino-Tardif (she/her)
Audrey is a second-year graduate student at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Information with courses focused on data sciences, critical information policy and information management. Her natural curiosity and intellectual questions have led her to pursue a thesis on the privatization of space from a Canadian perspective. It is her background in history, communications, and IT that has led her down a multidisciplinary path, specializing in the geopolitical, architectural, and commercial confluence of borderlands (oceans, atmosphere, cyberspace and outer space). In 2023, she had the opportunity to attend Luxembourg’s Space Resource Week, earning a professional course certification on Space Resources (Lunar resources) organized by the Colorado School of Mine, the ISS and ESRIC, which only further sparked her interest in astrostudies.
Unrelated to her education path, she has a wacky background as an entrepreneur and administrator of a restaurant and an electronic music festival for the last ten years. She also ran for the Groulx riding in the 2022 Quebec Provincial elections. Volunteering and organizing is, thus, very much a part of her career and educational journeys!

Hasaan Mohsin (he/him)

Mya McKinnon (she/her)

Kaia Turchio
Kaia Is a 4th year Space Engineering Student at the Lassonde School of Engineering. She is also completing the BEST Certificate which combines business, law and innovation courses from Schulich School of Business and Osgoode Hall Law School. Kaia is able to combine her passion for engineering and business and apply them in her careers. Kaia is also an active member of the Lassonde Engineering Society and has taken part in various entrepreneurship programs aimed at innovation and leadership. Alongside this Kaia is involved with Arbalest rocketry to develop hands-on experience with space systems. Currently, she is the CSC Sponsorship Coordinator at SEDS. She is responsible for communicating with companies for sponsorship opportunities and building partnerships. Aside from her academics and work, Kaia lives to rock climb, travel and hike!

Dylan Fernandes (he/him)
Dylan received a Bachelor’s of Mechanical Engineering (with a Mechatronics specialization) from Toronto Metropolitan University in 2021. He is currently looking to transition into mechatronics-based roles within the space industry.

Rory Macdonald (he/him)
Rory is a third year computing and physics dual-degree student at Queen’s University. He is passionate about programming, space science, teaching, and connecting with his community. Rory has experience with running summer camps teaching kids STEM, and is now exploring the world of physics research, having completed an internship at SNOLAB working on the DEAP-3600 dark matter detector. At Queen’s he holds leadership positions with space-related and software engineering extracurricular activities, and is an active member in student communities. Combining his love for space science and creating strong communities, Rory currently serves in two positions at SEDS; Rory manages the Discord server to allow for internal SEDS communication, as well as creating a space for our members to connect. He also is one of the web developers for the 2025 Canadian Space Conference (CSC), where he is able to help CSC inspire as many students as possible to pursue their passions and interests.

Netra Patel (she/her)
Netra Patel is the CSC Logistics Lead at SEDS-Canada. She graduated from the University of Calgary with a degree in Electrical Engineering and a minor in Aerospace, and she currently works at MDA. Netra’s passion for space exploration and space debris mitigation, combined with her technical background, inspired her to get involved with SEDS-Canada, where she contributes to fostering innovation and sustainability in space.

Mysha Hamid (she/her)
Mysha is a second-year Systems Design Engineering student at the University of Waterloo, passionate about all things space. Currently, she serves as the Logistics Lead for SEDS-Canada’s Canadian Space Conference and mentors participants as a SEDS representative for the annual NASA Space Apps Hackathon. Mysha is currently team lead on UW ASTRA (Adaptive Signal Transmission with Real-time Analytics), aiming to innovate in cosmic noise filtering for more reliable data transmission using machine learning. As part of the Waterloo Space Soldering Team last year, she contributed to a solution for improving soldering in microgravity. Her enthusiasm for student leadership and education drives her to create positive change with organizations like SEDS-Canada. In her free time, Mysha enjoys outdoor adventures and creating art.

Vasundhara Kalia (she/her)
Vasundhara is currently her undergraduate studies in Life Sciences at McMaster University. As the Events Chair for SEDS Canada, she oversees the annual Canadian Space Conference and organizes NASA Space Apps Challenges across Canada. She is also a member of the Space Life Sciences division at SEDS and serves as the Medical Sciences Chair. After presenting her academic poster on Space Medicine at the 2024 CSC conference, she discovered a deeper interest in being involved with SEDS. She plans on presenting research on sustainable soil growing habits in space for prolonged space missions by analyzing different soil compositions. Vasundhara hopes to connect opportunities with high school students and early undergraduates as part of her work with SEDS. She is eager to apply her experience in organizing events in the physical sciences to further engage with the natural sciences within SEDS.

Refia Gunes (she/her)
Refia is a third-year Aerospace Engineering student at Toronto Metropolitan University. Her passion for space took off when she became the Aerostructures Assistant for the MetRocketry student design team. In 2022, she attended the SEDS-Canada Space Conference for the first time as a booth attendant and was captivated by the event and its speakers. From that moment, she knew she was hooked. Now, in 2024, she plays a key role in supporting the conference’s growth and success. Refia is also a solo pilot and the Vice President of Internal Relations for the University Soaring Society, Canada’s only student glider club. When she’s not soaring through the skies or building rockets, she loves spending time with friends, improving her climbing skills, and finding new outdoor adventures to explore. She always values making meaningful connections, feel free to say hi if you see her around or connect with her on social media.
